The Kentucky Horse Council, in partnership with the Kentucky Horse Park, hosts an annual Equine Adoption Fair at the Horse Park. The event is an opportunity to connect interested adoptees, volunteers, and donors with rescue organizations in need.
All equine rescue organizations are invited to attend the fair and display a booth at no cost.
Proceeds from the Adoption Fair support the SoHo (Save Our Horses) fund. Income from the event may also be available to provide additional grant funding for Kentucky equine rescue organizations.
2008 Adoption Fair
The First Annual John Henry Memorial Adoption Fair was held June 28, 2008 at the Kentucky Horse Park. The event was sponsored by the Kentucky Horse Park in partnership with the Kentucky Horse Council. Roughly 400 attendees viewed horses available for adoption, visited the Equine Rescue Concourse, and bid on auction items.
Rescue organizations that displayed information at the event report making a great many contacts. Because of the extensive advertising, one rescue group reported adopting a record 13 horses prior to the event.
The event raised $15,000 to support the feeding of Kentucky horses, training of Kentucky law enforcement officials on equine abuse and neglect, and many other Kentucky Horse Council Health and Welfare Programs.
