Kentucky Trails & Open Spaces |

Mission of the Trails and Open Space Committee:
To promote, protect and expand Kentucky’s equestrian heritage and trails for current and future generations of riders, and to support the conservation of natural resources needed to achieve these goals.
Importance of Trails:
Brian Bourne, Trail Specialist for the Shawnee National Forest, stated there are 9.2 million horses in the US and approximately 4 million are used for recreation. The horse community is very large in number and basically a silent bunch generating 1 billion dollars to the trail riding industry. Tom Seay, speaker Best of America by Horseback, on RFD TV, stated that's 3 times as many horse owners as they are members of the NRA. United we must become to preserve the future of our trails for the next generation saving our American Heritage and the future for all horses. Secure these values by joining a proactive group at a local level, regional level and the national level.
Kentucky Horse Trail Directory:
An excellent resource for the trail enthusiast; this directory provides a listing of equestrian trails by Area Development District.
