Training Programs

The KY Horse Council provides Livestock Investigation Training to Animal Control Officers, Sheriffs, and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors throughout the Commonwealth. We also host a Large Animal Rescue course open to veterinarians, emergency personnel, as well as all members of the equine industry. A Barn Fire Training program is also being developed which will delve into the best practices for fire prevention and how to best handle a barn fire.

Livestock Investigation Training

The Kentucky Horse Council provides Livestock Investigation Training to animal control officers, sheriffs, judge executives and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors throughout the Commonwealth, as well as to veterinarians and veterinary technicians employed by the state.

 

A three-day, hands-on class is offered in Lexington once per year; LIT "In A Box" occurs throughout the state multiple times per year.

Large Animal Emergency Rescue

The Kentucky Horse Council hosts a Large Animal Emergency Rescue course with the assistance of national training groups and local veterinarians.

This course is open to veterinarians, emergency personnel, as well as all members of the equine community,

This three day course is currently pending RACE Continuing Education credits.  

 

Courses include two options of participation, extensive hands-on and auditor. 

​
